- 2018 Acura TLX base
So, I went to get subs installed at a shop for my 2018 Acura TLX base, and during installation, I received a phone call saying that my main navigation touchscreen froze up out of nowhere. Long story short, got the car back, went to the dealership, and was told that my head unit failed and would cost 9500 to replace it (my part #: 39542-TZ3-A53). I absolutely cannot afford that. The screen is currently on with a black box in the middle that does not move and nothing works when I touch it. The top screen on the dash shows the acura symbol but does not display anything after that. I have been calling dealerships and researching throwing in a different year TLX head unit + radio screen (part #'s: 39540-TZ3, 39542-TZ3) and have been met with varied answers in terms of whether it would work post-installation or whether I needed my exact part #. I am trying to figure out whether I can throw a different-year TLX radio into my 2018 base and have it work. if anybody has gone through this or has any advice on what to do, I would be appreciative and even willing to offer payment for information as I have been unsuccessful in finding my answer. I am looking forward to hearing from y'all!
